Dental Circumstances That Require Emergency Treatment

Dental Circumstances That Require Emergency TreatmentA strong and healthy mouth can be regarded as the base or foundation of everything. This most important part of your body is vital in the processes of chewing and speech. Other improvements like eating and sleeping are also better when you maintain the teeth in good condition. Thus your whole system gets benefits. Every part of our body has its function, but there are certain situations where your tooth problems need emergency care. Here are certain dental circumstances that might require emergency treatment:

Broken Teeth

A broken tooth can cause pain and bleeding, particularly if the biting surface is damaged. In some cases, a chip in a front tooth may not cause much discomfort at all; if it's on the side of your mouth where food doesn't contact it. But if the chip is on a chewing surface, you'll feel pain when chewing on that side of your mouth.

If you have a broken tooth, see your dentist as soon as possible because there's no way to predict how long it will take to heal or whether any damage has been done to neighboring teeth or surrounding bone tissue.

Lost Filling or Crown

If you lose a filling or crown from one of your teeth, this could mean that bacteria have gotten into the space left behind by the missing filling or crown and started to decay (erode) enamel. This may eventually destroy more than just one tooth. Thus, don't delay getting back to your dentist when you realize a lost filling or crown.

Bleeding Gums

If you notice your gums bleeding when brushing your teeth or flossing, you should contact your dentist immediately. Bleeding gums can signify that plaque is building up under the gum line, which may eventually lead to tooth decay or periodontal disease. These conditions can affect the bone and tissue around your teeth, reducing your teeth' life span.

Severe Tooth Pain

If you experience extreme pain in your teeth and jaw, this may be due to an infection or other serious condition. If left untreated, tooth pain can lead to more serious problems such as abscesses and even tooth loss. Thus, if you notice this type of pain, you must reach out to the most reliable dentist who will help determine what is causing the problem and develop an appropriate treatment plan for you.
